CUSP worked in close collaboration with QYAC and QNIWS to establish walking track alignment, materials, steps, and bridge crossings leading to the siting and orientation of each viewing platform.

Platform designs sought to optimise key view lines to regional landmarks such as The Coral Sea, Moreton Island, Glasshouse Mountains, Mount Warning, the Brisbane River and Brisbane CBD. Orientation was deemed critical by indigenous elders to connect the indigenous stories and language of the broader regional landscape.
The environmental and cultural sensitivities of these sites demanded a low intervention design resolution. The back edge of the deck was designed to ‘hug’ the sand ridge, preventing up slope draft and minimising the corresponding heat load on the structure.
